Mostra Arte & Cavallo

THE THEME
The Milanese Gallery creates a fascinating visual tribute to this animal, now wonderful as always. For a few thousand years man and horse have been meeting to perform various tasks, such as agriculture, transport, war and even sport. Inhabiting picturesque landscapes, battlefields, farmers' markets ... horses have always been present in the history of man, as precious and unique companions in times of war and peace.
For those who think that the horse has simply disappeared in the contemporary world, they are mistaken. Despite being limited to the rural and sporting world, we see that horses still show their value in the contemporary world. Several therapeutic treatments recommend horseback riding, as an activity that combines physical exertion and the benefits of living with the animal. Polo is also indicated in the corporate world as a sport capable of cultivating leadership and speed in decisions. Apparently, this mighty quadruped still has its place in the daily life of man.
As a result, we challenge artists from all over the world to find their muse in the form of a steed and portray him in the most glorious way possible. Most of the works entered will be with the theme Horse and but there will also be works with a free theme.

IPPODROMO DEL GALOPPO SAN SIRO MILANOg

THE HIPPODROME OF SAN SIRO - MILAN
The art exhibition will be open to the public during the three days of competition in the last week of September. On each day of the race, the audience exceeds 2,000 people.
The Snai San Hippodrome Built in 1920, for over a century it has been one of the most prestigious equestrian stages internationally. The running tracks are considered among the most selective in the world, and thanks to the different tracks (four for flat races, one for hedge races, one for steeple-chase and one for cross country) it is possible to play racing conferences on different distances, from 1000 to 3000 meters for flat races, up to 5000 meters for obstacle races.
The Snai San Siro Hippodrome is the only equestrian facility in the world to have been declared a "monument of national interest".

LA PISTA.jpg

On the grass of the gallop tracks have run, fought and won some of the greatest thoroughbreds in the history of horse racing, such as Tenerani, Ribot, Sirlad, Tony Bin, Falbrav. Prestigious names also emerge among jockeys, with Enrico Camici, Frankie Dettori and Mirko Demuro, just to name a few. It covers an area of about 1,600,000 square meters and has over 70 days of racing every year, for more than 500 races in total. The calendar includes ten Grands Prix in addition to Group races.

IL CAVALLO DI LEONARDO

THE "CAVALLO DI LEONARDO"

At the entrance to the Piazzale dello Sport, there is one of the largest equestrian statues in the world, Leonardo's Horse, created by the American sculptor Nina Akamu, who was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's original drawings for her work. The original work was conceived in 1482 by the Tuscan genius commissioned by Ludovico il Moro, Duke of Milan, who wanted to dedicate the work to the memory of his father Francesco.
